Montréal du Gers

Fortified Gascony village

The village of Montréal, founded in the 13th century and included in the "most beautiful villages of France", is one of the oldest bastides in the Gers. The village enjoys a picturesque location overlooking the Auzoue Valley. Although religious wars damaged some of its heritage, the village has a magnificent central square lined with pretty medieval houses and dominated by a gothic church. The square also houses the Seviac museum, an exceptional gallo-roman villa located nearby and well worth a visit.
